Blog/Life Update

blogging, blogger, blog posts, blog post ideas,

Hi everyone! I feel like I have a lot to tell you about so I wanted to do an update post!

Book Reveals

So for the past few weeks I have been sharing book reveals for upcoming books or re-releases and although I love supporting authors, I have decided to stop doing these. They take up a lot of time and I want to dedicate more time to my creative writing.

Creative Writing

I have wanted to be an author for a long time. I have tried finishing a book before and have yet to accomplish that but I want to keep trying! I was posting chapters on Wattpad but I decided to come off of there because I didn’t want to be thinking about how many views I was getting instead of the love for my story and working on finishing and improving it. I would also like to write more poems and short stories. I was trying to work out where to publish these and I think that I will submit to magazines and writing competitions but also post some of my work on my blog. I have a few creative writing books that I am working through at the moment (see my Instagram for the picture!). For a long time my writing motivation and inspiration disappeared and I feel that it is now starting to come back. I am hoping to stop it going away again! If you have any advice on how to prevent this let me know! I think that doing little writing exercises often might help.

Blog Posts

I haven’t been finishing many books lately but I recently had my birthday and I got some new books! I really want to get back into reading and posting book reviews because I love it so much. I am aiming to get into a routine which implements regular reading because I have been spending a lot of time on my blog and social media. I also want to post some small creative writing pieces and then just anything that I want to write about, such as mental health and writing.

Routine

I have an idea of a routine which includes working on my blog, writing, reading and then also playing games and possibly creating crafts and art. I have tried many different art forms in the past so I can never decide what to do! What kind of arts or crafts do you like?

I hope that you are all well and that you continue to enjoy my blog. Don’t forget you can follow me on Twitter, as well as Instagram too.

Rapid Fire Book Tag

This is a book tag created by Kate from GirlReading (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-46EzDWdSY). There are a series of book related questions to answer so let’s go:
Q: E-Book or Physical Book?  A: E-book, I know this is a controversial answer but I love my kindle so much! It is light to hold, keeps my page open and tells me an estimate of how much longer I have left in the book which helps motivate me to keep reading.
Q: Paperback or Hardback?  A: I don’t really have a preference!
Q: Online or In-Store Book Shopping?  A: I love shopping in a book store. Being surrounded by books is one of my favourite places. I can look at all of the different books available and choose whichever is available at the time. I often find books that I wasn’t originally planning on buying!
Q: Trilogies or Series? A: I love series because then there are more books to read, as long as the books still continue to be great and there is enough story to last across more books.
Q: Heroes or Villains? A: Heroes but I do l…

Book Buddy Read with Eleanor May

I have wanted to buddy read with someone for a while. Buddy reading is where you and someone else read the same book around the same time and discuss it. However, I didn’t really have anyone who had the same reading tastes as me. I have become good friends with Eleanor from http://www.eleaanormay.com/ and we decided to buddy read!
I am so excited to read a book with her and if any of you want to join in please feel free to. The book we are reading is: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare!
Neither of us have read the Mortal Instruments series before and it is such a popular series. From what I know of this series, it follows teenagers who hunt demons. I was accidentally spoiled with one plot point that occurs later in the story but I am hoping it won’t affect my reading of this book very much. I am really looking forward to discovering this series with a friend.
Have any of you ever done a buddy read?
You can buy City of Bones here: Amazon UK, Audible UK, Amazon US, Audible US, Book Depositor…

Five Things I Learnt From My Internet Detox

I just finished doing 48 hours without internet in aid of Cancer Research UK. Here are the things that I learnt during this time.

1.It is ok to use the internet sometimes

I often feel bad that I use the internet as much as I do. I think that I should be doing other things instead. However, I have realised that it is ok to use the internet. It is ok to spend time on social media, post things and talk to others, as long as you are not spending too long on there or spending time on social media or accounts that make you feel bad about yourself.

2.Without internet you can relive some good old times
Not having access to internet 24/7 reminded me of when I was younger and we literally did not have access to internet 24/7. We had to spend our time in other ways. The one activity that I spent most of my time doing was playing video games. I used to love spending time playing the same game over and over again and a lot of the games I never even completed because they were too difficult for me bu…
