Lucy Turns Pages: Looking at Books Recommended to Me By Goodreads!

Looking at Books Recommended to Me By Goodreads!

Goodreads has a recommendation feature. I decided to check this out, I clicked recommendations and it took me to a page with a list of books based on my Goodreads shelves. Here are the books that Goodreads believed I might like and my thoughts on them:

Synopsis:
My Hero Academia is set in a world where people suddenly discover that they have superpowers, called 'quirks'. However, Izuku is one of the few who discovers that he doesn't have one. People with quirks become superheroes, or supervillains. Izuku has always dreamed of becoming a hero but without a quirk he cannot. One day he meets his favourite superhero, All Might, who offers Izuku a way to change his fate...

My thoughts:

My Hero Academia is a manga that has been on my to-read list for a while. This is a recommendation that I will be checking out.

Synopsis:
Demons were destroyed by a group of warrior angels. Riv wants to join the angels but discovers a deadly secret. Sig is looking into demon sightings and finds that there may be an uprising. Drem discovers bodies in the forest, what or who could have caused this?

My thoughts:

I hadn’t heard of this book until Goodreads recommended it to me. The cover looks pretty cool. The synopsis sounds interesting but also kind of tropey. At the time of writing, this book has an average 4.38 rating and over 2,000 people have rated it. This demonstrates how there are a lot of potentially amazing unknown books out there! I will be looking further into this book.

Synopsis:
This book follows Mavis who was the first master of the guild Fairy Tail. When she was a child she dreamt of meeting fairies. Treasure hunters invaded her island and force Mavis to go on an adventure.

My thoughts:

I like the cover and the synopsis sounds interesting. However, I read a couple of the books in the original manga series and it just wasn’t interested in reading anymore. I may watch the anime. So unfortunately, Goodreads, this is a no from me.

The Memory Wood
The Memory Wood

Synopsis:
Elijah has always lived in the Memory Wood. Elissa has been abducted and brought to the Memory Wood. Elijah discovers her but will not call the police as he doesn't want her to leave. Elijah knows what could happen as Elissa isn't the first girl that he has seen in the Memory Wood.

My thoughts:

This book doesn’t have very many reviews on Goodreads but the ratings are overall currently positive. I don’t really read many thrillers so I probably won’t pick this up.

Naruto 1

Synopsis:
In the past the Hidden Leaves village was destroyed by a nine-tailed fox. In the present, Naruto is trying to graduate from the Ninja Academy, he wants to become the new village leader.

My thoughts:

Naruto is one of the typical big-name mangas and as such it has been on my radar for a long time. I definitely plan on picking this up soon!

Tilly and the Bookwanderers (Pages & Co. 1)

Synopsis:
Tilly, who is eleven years old has always lived above the bookshop owned by her grandparents. Tilly's mother disappeared when Tilly was a baby. Tilly escapes through novels and one day she discovers that characters from her books are in the bookshop! Tilly uses the help of characters like Alice in Wonderland to discover what happened to her mother.

My thoughts:

This book sounds so cute! Like a middlegrade book version of Inkheart, a film that I did really like. I may check this book out! If you have read it please let me know what you thought of it.

These are some of the books that Goodreads recommended to me. How do you think they did?
