My June TBR (To Be Read)!

This post contains affiliate links but all thoughts are my own and honest.

Hi everyone! If you don't know what a TBR is, it is a word in the online book community meaning the books that you have to read. I haven't set myself a monthly TBR in a while but I want to start reading more so I thought now would be a great time to make one! I have already started two of the books on this list and I am hoping to read a lot in the month of June! So here are the books that I may read this month (some of them may change depending on how I feel but at the moment these are some of the books that I am thinking of reading).

The Extinction Trials

The first book that I hope to finish in June is The Extinction Trials by S. M. Wilson. I have already started this book and I am almost halfway through it.

This book is set in a world where dinosaurs exist alongside humans. Some live in one place where all the humans live and others, like the T Rex live on another continent where it is too dangerous for humans to live because that is where all the harmful dinosaurs are. The continent where the humans are living is overpopulated and their food and energy supplies are sparse. Many people don't have healthcare, food is rationed and people work and live in shifts.

Every year people can choose to take part in the trials, they never know what the trials will consist of but 100 finalists are chosen and those people go to the dinosaur continent on a mission which varies depending on the needs of the human continent.

This book is dual perspective and we follow two teenagers who take part in the trials for different reasons.

This book is quite interesting so far but there are parts of it that I don't like. I'm hoping to complete this in June!

The Turn of the Key

The next book that I am hoping to finish, and another book that I have already started is The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware. This is a mystery thriller which is written in the form of a story being told through letters. The main character, Rowan is on trial for the murder of a child she was the nanny for but she claims she is innocent. She tells the story from the beginning, from when she was hired.

Raven Black

Raven Black is a crime fiction novel by a popular writer, Ann Cleeves. It is the first book in The Shetland series. I saw the tv show a long time ago but I have wanted to try her books for a while. I can't remember much about this book but I know that it follows a detective and I believe it is set in the Shetland Island.

A Game of Thrones

Ok so I started reading A Game of Thrones, the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin years ago but things happened and I just didn't finish it. Then I ended up watching the entire series and yes I wasn't happy with the ending either and I'm also hoping the Martin changes the ending in the books. But alas, I do want to read the books because they have extra information that wasn't included in the show and they do vary a bit.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is the prequel book to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and it follows the main villain from The Hunger Games as a young man. This book has received mixed reviews so I'm not sure if I will finish it but I am going to give it a go! I am going to be listening to the audiobook on Audible, if you'd like to try Audible, you can get a free audiobook here.

So those are the books I am hoping to read in June! There are so many books that I am excited to read going forward! What are you hoping to read in June?
