Lucy Turns Pages: Three games that I am excited for in 2019

Three games that I am excited for in 2019

I feel like this year is a great year for games, maybe because all of my favourite game series' are seeing new entries this year! Here are the three games that I am most anticipating in 2019. (Minus Kingdom Hearts 3 which has already been released and I am currently playing)

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

My first introduction to the Fire Emblem series was Fire Emblem: Awakening. It felt fresh, it was fun, it had a great storyline and it sucked me in. The Fire Emblem games feature strong characters and you can build relationships between characters of your choice. This is mainly done through putting two characters to work together on the map. The gameplay features maps that progress the story. On each map, you have to use your characters strategically to defeat the enemies and reach your goal. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the latest installment in the Fire Emblem series and it is the first main game to be released on Nintendo Switch. It looks amazing as always. In the build-up to the release of Three Houses, I am going to be restarting/ aiming to complete the other Fire Emblem games I own. These are: Fire Emblem: Conquest, Birthright and Revelation, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Fire Emblem: Warriors. Fire Emblem: Warriors is a blend of Fire Emblem and another series called Dynasty Warriors. Fire Emblem: Warriors features stories relating to characters throughout Fire Emblem history. However, instead of having a map and moving each character, you switch between characters in a first-person perspective and fight masses of enemies with each attack. I was surprised by how much I loved this game.

Pokemon Sword/ Shield

To anyone who has visited my blog before, you will probably know that I am a huge Pokemon fan. I started with LeafGreen and I have played pretty much every Pokemon game released since then. We knew that a new Pokemon main game would be coming to Nintendo Switch and when the trailer was released, it was just amazing. Pokemon Sword and Shield follow a completely new region which appears to be based on the UK, which is where I am from. We were introduced to three new adorable starters. I am so excited to enter a new Pokemon region, to see new and old Pokemon. A new adventure awaits!

Animal Crossing Switch

This is perhaps the game that I am most excited for. I loved Wild World and New Leaf. I spent over 200 hours on New Leaf alone. We do not know really anything about the new Animal Crossing game yet but I am hoping for an expansion upon previous games. I liked the addition of being mayor in New Leaf but public work recommendations (where building projects were suggested to you by villagers and then you could build them) were sparse. The island was a fun new addition. I would love to see online multiplayer for the new Animal Crossing game. I assume we will also have the features that were added to New Leaf through Animal Crossing New Leaf Amiibo which made decorating and storing items so much easier. I would not say no to some new additions to keep the series fresh. I hope we get more information about this game soon and I hope that it exceeds or at least, meets fan expectations which I believe it probably will.

So those are the three games that I am most excited for in 2019. What games are you excited to play?
