Synopsis:

The Emperor, the Orchid and the Rose

In the Gragiyan Empire, an ancient land where humans walk among deities and mythical beings, a young widow Skaraila falls deeply in love with the charismatic Emperor Tiriyanin.

Separated by a tragedy, imagine her shock when she learns she is not the only woman in his life. As different as day to night, her rival Akrila joins the household, and Skaraila fears for her love and her position at court, but Tiriyanin encourages his lovers to become friends, insisting they both hold a special place in his heart, affectionately calling them Darhija "orchid" and Lereia "rose". The two women strike an unlikely friendship together in his palace. An unexpected bond grows between the trio.

Gragiyan Law states an emperor may only have one wife. His court, his advisors and his people demand an heir. The woman to bear his child shall be his queen. Tiriyanin must choose the orchid or the rose before Lord Makar, god of death, makes the choice for him.

Inspiration for the Book:

The mythical Gragiyan Empire universe was inspired by ancient Rome with a twist of mythical, Tolkien style fantasy. Skaraila’s nickname, her romance with Tiriyanin and her journey to becoming empress were inspired by a historical fiction book called Empress Orchid by Anchee Min.
